My name is Stef Scheffer and I’m 22 years old. I was born in Abcoude but I currently live in Enkhuizen.
I wasn’t particularly into music until I was about 11 years old when my sister and I played Lego Rock Band on the Nintendo DS, a rhythmic game like Guitar Hero. After endlessly replaying the song ‘In Too Deep’ by Sum 41 I became inspired by the rock sound and especially the lead guitar.
This was at the time that we’d just moved so we still had a closet full of packed boxes and rubbish. One day I was rummaging through the stuff and accidently found my mother’s old classical guitar. I asked her to help me getting started with playing, but she was a little rusty with it so I had to find it out on my own.
In the first week of high school I met Diederik who’s also just started playing an instrument, bass guitar. When we found out that we pretty much had the same taste in music we agreed to start a band and after ‘carefully selecting’ Daan as vocalist our musical career started. All we needed now was a drummer.
A few years and a few drummers later we met Tom and the final formation of No Offense was formed and things really started coming together. We usually write our songs starting with the guitar part I wrote and move on from there. Because we’re all still young and relatively new to writing music No Offense’s sound is rapidly evolving into something we all stand behind. This is the thing I love most about music, creating something awesome with my best friends. That, and the thrill of performing those creations with them in front of an audience.
